Centres of government play a key role in ensuring that policies are implemented effectively and that government decisions are strategic, consistent and informed by reliable evidence. However, developing robust systems to monitor government performance remains a challenge across the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkan regions.
This meeting brought together representatives of centre of government institutions from both regions to explore how performance measurement can strengthen public governance and support progress towards European integration. Participants examined the availability and credibility of performance data, the use of indicators to monitor and evaluate sector strategies, and approaches to measuring the performance of public institutions. They shared national experiences, learnt from practices in EU and OECD member countries, and identified practical tools for improving performance monitoring.
The meeting was hosted by the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova and organised by SIGMA in co-operation with the GIZ “Eastern Partnership Regional Project for Public Administration Reform” and the Regional School of Public Administration.
