General Marshall on the day of the famous Marshall Plan speech

General George Catlett MARSHALL entering Harvard University in the United States, to give his famous Marshall Plan speech, on 5 June 1947.  It was after this speech that the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC), the forerunner of the OECD, was formed. Signing of the OECD Convention

Twenty countries signed the Convention on the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, at Salon de l'Horloge, Quai d'Orsay, Paris, on 14 December 1960. A high-resolution image is also available.

Château de la Muette, OECD headquarters, Paris

In 1949, the Château de la Muette became the headquarters of the OEEC, and since 1961 it has formed part of the headquarters of the OECD. Find out more about the history of the Château. A high-resolution image is also available.
