General George Catlett MARSHALL entering Harvard University in the United States, to give his famous Marshall Plan speech, on 5 June 1947. It was after this speech that the Organisation for European Economic Cooperation (OEEC), the forerunner of the OECD, was formed. A high-resolution image is also available.

In 1949, the Château de la Muette became the headquarters of the OEEC, and since 1961 it has formed part of the headquarters of the OECD. Find out more about the history of the Château.
