The economics of climate change mitigation: policies and options for the future

Considering the costs and risks of inaction, ambitious action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is economically rational. However, success in abating world emissions will ultimately require a least-cost set of policy instruments that is applied as widely as possible across all emission sources (countries, sectors and greenhouse gases).

An Overview of the OECD ENV-Linkages Model

This Working Paper presents a summary description of the OECD ENV-Linkages General Equilibrium model. This model has been developed by the Environment Directorate of the OECD Secretariat in order to assess the economic impact of abating Greenhouse Gases using several different economic instruments. The paper is divided into two parts.

"The Consensus Document on the Biology of Western White Pine (Pinus monticola Dougl. ex. D. Don), " number 38 in the series, was recently revised and republished.  This document replaces ENV/JM/MONO(2006)16 with the identical title that was published in 2006.

Annual Meeting of the EAP Task Force, 23-24 October 2008, Astana (Kazakhstan)

The next meeting of the EAP Task Force will take place on 23-24 October 2008 in Astana, Kazakhstan.  The main purpose of the meeting will be to discuss progress in implementing the the EAP Task Force's Programme of Work, and priority areas of work for 2009 and beyond. The meeting it will start with a special session on  how the challenge of institutional development of Environment Ministries in the region could be addressed, drawing on new approaches being employed by development cooperation agencies in OECD countries.

Infrastructure Project meeting on Transcontinental Infrastructure Needs to 2030: Ports, Airports, Rail Corridors, Oil and Gas Pipelines

The IFP has recently completed a Futures Project on Infrastructure Needs to 2030 (2005-2007) which covered telecoms, water, electricity and surface transport, but did not include ports, airports and other major infrastructures crossing or connecting continents. This meeting will present the key elements of a new planned infrastructure project on Transcontinental Infrastructure Needs to 2030: Ports, Airports, Rail Corridors, Oil and Gas Pipelines...

OECD Published Pov and LRTP Screening Tool

OECD published the "Pov and LRTP Screening Tool" which has been developed with the aim of using multimedia models for estimating overall persistence (Pov) and long-range transport potential (LRTP) of organic chemicals at a screening level in the context of PBTs/POPs assessments. The Tool calculates metrics of Pov and LRTP from a multimedia chemical fate model, and provides a graphical presentation of the results.
