World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD)
The World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) will be held in Johannesburg from 26 August - 4 September 2002. It will review progress made towards sustainable development in the 10 years since the Earth Summit of 1992, identify the challenges that still remain, and provide an opportunity to forge new commitments and partnerships to address these challenges. It will bring together an estimated 65 000 participants, including heads of State and Government, national delegates and leaders from NGOs, businesses and other major groups.
