OECD Territorial Reviews: Poland

The review highlights that while Poland has maintained high growth levels since the mid-1990s, territorial disparities - among the greatest in terms of GDP per capita in the OECD - are persistent and rising. The report also explores challenges for Polish regional development policy and provides recommendations to best implement the policy mix.

International Conference on Regional Policy around the World

Government leaders, policy makers and practitioners discussed the impact of regional policy, present and future perspectives, at an international conference on “Regional Policy around the World”, held in Porto, Portugal, 29 September 2008. This conference was organised by the Portuguese Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Regional Development, in co-operation with the OECD. On this occasion the report “OECD Territorial Review of Portugal” was officially launched.

Competitive Cities and Climate Change

This high-level event, jointly organised by the OECD, the Milan City Council and the Province of Milan, will bring together ministers, mayors, eminent personalities from the Club of Madrid (former Heads of States and Governments), prominent experts, and representatives of international organisations and government networks, to examine one of the key global challenges facing cities today - climate change.  The conference will look at the relationships between urbanisation and climate change, and the implications of urban policy making in relation to competitiveness objectives.
