The 2001 DAC Recommendation to untie ODA to the least developed countries was amended on 15 March 2006, and more recently in July 2008, extending the Recommendation to include non-LDC HIPCs. Click here to see the Revised Recommendation .

DAC Chair Announces Agreement to Untie Aid to More Countries

At the High Level Meeting of the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee in Paris, development ministers from donor countries have agreed to untie aid to Bolivia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Republic of Congo. In total, all 39 Highly Indebted Poor Countries will now receive untied aid and will be able to buy goods and services locally at the best price.

DAC takes further steps to untie more aid

Hardly a major international development event goes by without calls for more aid to be untied. In response, the DAC had agreed in 2001 on a Recommendation on Untying ODA to the Least Developed Countries. While the Recommendation provided for exceptions concerning small contracts, the DAC has now decided to lift this exception.....(Extract from Room Document presented at the 15 March 2006 DAC Meeting).
